General Counsel

The General Counsel is responsible for providing legal advice and support to the organisation on a variety of matters. They will review contracts, advise on compliance issues, and represent the company in legal proceedings. The General Counsel must be well-versed in all areas of the law relevant to the organisation's business and must be able to provide clear and concise advice.

They must also be able to work effectively with other members of the management team, and must be able to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner. The General Counsel job description may vary depending on the size and type of organisation, but the ability to provide sound legal advice and support is essential.

Qualifications, training and skills required
  • General Counsel must be an excellent communicator, both in writing and in person. They must be able to clearly articulate their legal advice in a way that is easy for non-lawyers to understand. They must also be able to build strong relationships with other members of the senior management team and work collaboratively to achieve the company's objectives.
  • A good General Counsel must be highly organised and have strong problem-solving skills. They must be able to handle multiple projects at once and find creative solutions to complex legal issues. Finally, a good General Counsel must have a strong sense of ethics and be able to maintain the highest standards of integrity.
